How the Clinton County Record Map Works
Illinois public-record rules can open up arrest information without a county search page. The Clinton County Sheriff's Office runs the county corrections contact point. Its public site offers no current-custody roster. There is no recent-bookings feed and no official booking-photo gallery. That describes only the public site, not the records held inside the agency.
A booking record and a court result are different things. Someone booked at the county jail may be released, moved, or held elsewhere long before a case wraps up. The court side lives with the Clinton County Circuit Clerk and its linked Judici search. For state-prison custody, use the Illinois Department of Corrections lookup, which does not cover ordinary county jail intake. Illinois FOIA section 2.15 spells out arrest-report details agencies may release: identity, charges, time and place, the agency involved, a photograph when one exists, and receipt, discharge, or transfer facts. Section 7 lists the exemptions.
What Clinton County Resources Include
Everything here is grouped by source and by the custody question at hand. That way you can tell an official record from a secondhand report.
- The Clinton County records hub explains the jail and city routes, the FOIA fallback, the state search, court disposition checks, and the difference between booked, in custody, released, and sentenced status.
- City notes distinguish Centralia, Breese, and Carlyle instead of treating every city arrest as a Clinton County Jail booking. Centralia Police reports often point to Marion County Jail, while Breese reporting supports a Clinton County Jail route.
- State and federal paths identify when IDOC, the Bureau of Prisons, or ICE is the proper source. Those systems answer different custody questions and do not create a county booking roster.
- Correction and sealing information points to the originating agency, the court, Illinois FOIA, 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ, and 20 ILCS 2630/5.2 without promising that a lawful record can simply be erased.
What This Private Resource Cannot Do
Clinton County Busted Mugshots is a private operation. It has no connection to the sheriff's office, the county jail, any city police department, IDOC, or any other Illinois, federal, or local government agency.
- It cannot release, hold, transfer, or locate a person in custody.
- It cannot take bond, schedule a jail visit, or send money for another person.
- It cannot give legal advice or decide whether a case qualifies for sealing or expungement.
- It cannot promise that an address, phone number, fee, or status on an outside source is current.
For current custody, listed charges, or a release date, only the office that created the record can confirm it. That means the sheriff, the corrections office, the city agency, or whatever custodian holds the file.
Search Partners and Referrals
Outside providers run some of the search boxes you'll see here. Each sets its own prices, terms, results, and data practices. A tool may lead you to a paid signup. If so, Clinton County Busted Mugshots may earn a referral fee. The fee supports the site. It buys no control over the partner's service. Nor does it make that partner an official Clinton County source.
