Get in Touch

Clinton County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm who is in custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. For a current answer, send the question to the sheriff, corrections office, city police department, court clerk, or other agency that created the record.

Where Clinton County Records Are Held

The official sheriff information was checked on August 20, 2026. Use the contact that matches the question, and verify hours before visiting. A city arrest report and a county jail custody record can be held by different agencies.

For a booking record or photograph, ask the county FOIA officer for an existing releasable record, the arresting agency, the specific date range, and any booking, release, or transfer dates maintained. No jail-specific form, booking-photo fee, guaranteed turnaround, or local retention period was published. Under 5 ILCS 140/3, an ordinary written request normally receives a response within five business days, with one permitted extension for the statutory reasons. The Attorney General's FOIA FAQ describes the general rule that the first 50 standard black-and-white pages are free and later pages may cost up to 15 cents each. Ask for a fee estimate before a large copy request.

For an older jail register, arrest blotter, or booking image, ask the sheriff for the approved Local Records Commission application, record-series name, and disposal or transfer status. The Illinois State Archives local-government FAQ explains that an agency needs approved authority before disposing of local records. Its Clinton County IRAD page lists the transferred-records route at Morris Library, Southern Illinois University, 1835 University Press Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901-6808, (618) 453-3040. The reviewed holdings search did not return a sheriff booking-register or booking-photo series, so that result should be treated as a lead for further checking, not proof that no historical material exists.

Use the following routes for the record's actual custody or case status:

  • County custody or jail operations: call Clinton County Corrections at (618) 594-4556 or the Sheriff's Office at (618) 594-4555. The reviewed county site did not expose a public roster or booking-photo feed. A jail answer is the proper source for current custody, visitation, and release questions.
  • County FOIA records: send a narrow request to Sandra Basler at the courthouse address or email above. 5 ILCS 140/2.15 identifies arrest-report fields such as identity, charges, time and place, arresting agency, photograph when available, and incarceration receipt, discharge, or transfer information. Section 7 exemptions may require withholding or redaction.
  • City police records: Centralia Police is at 222 S. Poplar Street, Centralia, IL 62801, with non-emergency number (618) 533-7602 and weekday hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Its records route is separate, and Centralia arrests are often reported at Marion County Jail. Breese Police is at 500 N. 1st Street, Breese, IL 62230, with non-emergency number (618) 526-7226 and weekday office hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; its records form identifies Lea Nenninger as the police FOIA officer. Use the Breese public-record request form for an arrest report or photo. Carlyle Police can be reached at (618) 594-2488. Public sources list both 850 Franklin Street and 2111 West Lake Drive, so call Carlyle before mailing a request.
  • Court case and disposition: contact Clinton County Circuit Clerk Rod Kloeckner, 850 Fairfax Street, Room 220, Carlyle, IL 62231, (618) 594-6615, circlerk@clintonco.illinois.gov. The clerk's site links to the Judici case search and its court-fee page. A booking allegation can be reduced, dismissed, resolved through supervision, or end without a conviction, so the docket is the source for what happened after arrest.
  • Sentenced state custody: use the Illinois Department of Corrections offender search for a person sentenced to IDOC custody. It is not the Clinton County Jail roster. Completed sentences may leave the public search, so use the IDOC records path for older state records.
  • Federal custody: use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator for federal inmates and the U.S. Marshals Service prisoners information for federal pretrial custody questions. A BOP result means federal custody, not a Clinton County booking, and the Marshals do not publish a county-style roster.
  • Immigration custody: use the ICE Online Detainee Locator for a person currently in ICE custody or within its stated release window. ICE search details differ from a county arrest search; general locator help is available at (1-888-351-4024). Do not infer an immigration hold from a county arrest record alone.

If an outside listing has the wrong name, charge, custody state, or disposition, preserve its URL and date, then ask the original agency or court for a correction. For a court-based remedy, review the Illinois Courts expungement and sealing forms and 20 ILCS 2630/5.2. The correction provision in 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ may apply to a covered publisher, but it does not make this private site a custodian of county records.
